WDAC Participates in Earthstock 2026

The Waste Data and Analysis Center (WDAC) participated in Stony Brook University’s Earthstock Street Fair on Friday, April 24. Located on the Academic Mall near the Student Activity Center (SAC), the event provided an opportunity for the WDAC team to discuss their research with students, faculty, staff, and local organizations.

During the event, the team (Hailey Lee, Alfred Manu, Arthur Kuntarakornkiti, Samuel Tselnik, Sameena Manzur, Yiyi Wang, Firman Firmansyah, and David Tonjes) shared details regarding the ongoing New York State Waste Characterization Project and addressed questions about regional waste management.

In addition to these discussions, the WDAC booth featured educational quizzes and raffles. Attendees had the opportunity to win branded items, including backpacks, water bottles, and hats. Following the event, the center noted increased engagement, including growth in its social media presence and broader outreach from the campus community.

The Street Fair served as the concluding event for Earthstock 2026, Stony Brook University’s week-long series of lectures and activities focused on conservation and sustainable living. This marked WDAC’s second year participating in the festival, highlighting the center’s role in sharing waste data analysis with the broader campus community.
