The Waste Data and Analysis Center (WDAC) participated in Stony Brook University’s Earthstock Street Fair on Friday, April 25th. Located on the Academic Mall near the Student Activity Center (SAC) from 11 AM to 3 PM, the event allowed the WDAC team to discuss their work with attendees.

The WDAC team included Hailey Lee (Sampling Specialist), Isabella Park (Research Assistant), Yiyi Wang (Sampling Manager), and Firman Firmansyah (Research Manager). They spoke with visitors about the ongoing Waste Characterization Project in New York and answered questions regarding waste management in the state. In addition to discussions, the WDAC booth offered quizzes and raffles. Attendees participated for a chance to win WDAC-branded water bottles and hats.
The Street Fair was the concluding event for Earthstock 2025, Stony Brook University’s week-long observance related to Earth Day. Earthstock, a campus tradition, includes lectures, panels, and activities focused on conservation, climate action, and sustainable living.
This was WDAC’s first year participating in the festival. The center’s participation provided an opportunity to share information about waste data analysis and its role in sustainability efforts with the campus community.
